How much cubs does a polar bear give birth to?

Polar bears usually give birth to two cubs, but sometimes they can have one or three. The cubs are born in a snow den that the mother has dug. They are born blind and helpless, and weigh about 1 pound (0.45 kilograms). The cubs stay in the den with their mother for about two months, until they are strong enough to travel. They then follow their mother around and learn to hunt and survive in the Arctic environment.
