Do Florida Panthers live in Tampa?

Florida panthers (Puma concolor coryi) are a critically endangered population of jaguars that historically ranged throughout the southeastern United States including the state of Florida and in particular South Florida and the Everglades. While their population numbers are small and restricted, it is possible that Florida panthers may occasionally roam through the Tampa area as transient individuals. However, Tampa is located on the western coast of Florida and not within the main historical range of Florida panthers, which is primarily in the southern and central regions of the state.
