Things You'll Need
- Bait
- Pest control products
- Natural ingredients
- An exterminator
Instructions
Use baits to rid your home and yard of red ants. You will probably have to repeat this every two to four weeks, but the time spent is well worth it.
Get rid of the red ant mound by pouring scalding hot water on it, which will destroy the whole colony. This will need to be done several times before you accomplish your task. Be careful if the mound is in the midst of areas where there are flowers, shrubs and plants because the hot water technique can be destructive to them as well.
Mix a 50-50 ratio of water and apple cider vinegar and use a sponge to wipe it in the areas where you usually find the most red ant activity. This is an easy and non-toxic way to get rid of red ants.
Another natural ant-killing concoction that might help involves mixing molasses, liquid soap, orange oil and water and pouring it on the mound. You will need to use several gallons before you see in sizable difference, but you will eventually witness the red ants literally melting away.
Consider using a pest control service, if nothing else seems to be working. Some people worry about the cost of using a professional exterminator, but the important thing is that you get rid of red ants because they are aggressive insects and the problem will only get worse if you don't take care of things right now.
