The Florida manatee (Trichechus Manatus latirostris) is a large aquatic mammal found in the southeastern United States. It is one of three species of manatees found in the world. The Florida manatee is typically between 9 and 13 feet (2.7 and 4 meters) long and weighs between 800 and 1,200 pounds (363 and 544 kilograms). The largest manatees can grow up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) long and weigh over 3,000 pounds (1,361 kilograms).
