Instructions
Look for debris around the turtle's habitat. The turtle may have tracked some material out of its tank. Any crumbs or pieces of bedding left on the ground can lead to the turtle's location.
Sniff around the room where the turtle disappeared. Turtles often have a distinctive scent and you can use it to locate the turtle. Listen for sounds of movement as well.
Place turtle food and a bowl of water onto the floor to lure your turtle out of hiding. The turtle will need sustenance and will likely come looking for food if you make it available.
Check the perimeter of your yard if the turtle escaped outdoors. Turtles are more likely to avoid wide-open areas and will remain near a fence or hedge line instead of crossing an open yard.
How to Find an Escaped Turtle
An escaped pet is a concern for a pet owner. Any pet can escape from its confines and some are more difficult to locate than others. Dogs and cats are often fast runners, and smaller animals can easily hide in nooks and crannies that make locating them a challenge. Turtles are slow-moving and that plays to an owner's advantage. Finding an escaped turtle requires some investigative work.
