Instructions

    • 1

Acquire an aquarium suitable for your turtle. The aquarium should be a minimum of 20 gallons, but 40 gallons will ensure your turtle has enough space.

    • 2

Set up a water area in the tank. The water level should be at least as deep as the turtle is long to give it plenty of space to swim.

    • 3

Set up a water-filtration system appropriate for the size of your aquarium.

    • 4

Set up a land area in the tank where your turtles can hang out and bask. Use rocks, wood or bricks to make a land area for your turtle. Make sure your turtle can climb up onto the land area.

    • 5

Purchase and set up a basking lamp to heat the land area.

    • 6

Add plants to your tank if you like, but make sure they are plastic (the turtle may try to eat real plants) and don't overfill your aquarium with too many decorations and plants.
