How to Identify Snapping Turtle Hatchlings

Snapping turtles lay their eggs in a nest they have prepared, and then bury their eggs inside the nest. The eggs often fall victim to scavenging animals, humans and dogs. Very few eggs survive once the nest is discovered. It typically takes over three months for the eggs to incubate and hatch. When these little troopers do emerge, it is important to know how to identify snapping turtles.
