Can a baby snapping turtle live in cold water?
Baby snapping turtles can live in cold water. Snapping turtles are found in freshwater habitats throughout North America, and their natural range extends as far north as Canada. In these regions, the water can get very cold in the winter, and baby snapping turtles are able to survive by burrowing into the mud and hibernating. While hibernating, they slow down their metabolism and rely on their stored fat reserves to survive. So, while baby snapping turtles can live in cold water, they do not tolerate extremely cold temperatures.
