What are baby Bilbies?

"Baby bilbies" are called joeys, just like baby kangaroos and other marsupials.

Here's a bit more about bilby joeys:

* Tiny and blind: Bilby joeys are born incredibly small and underdeveloped, just like all marsupials. They are blind and hairless, and they crawl immediately into their mother's pouch.

* Develop in the pouch: The joey spends several months developing in the pouch, feeding on its mother's milk. During this time, it grows fur, opens its eyes, and develops the ability to move around.

* Leave the pouch: Eventually, the joey will leave the pouch and start to venture out on its own, but it will still return to its mother for food and protection for a while longer.

Fun fact: Bilbies are called "marsupial rabbits" because they resemble rabbits in their appearance and hopping gait!
