- Fiberglass window screening
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Coconut husk fiber soil mix
- Driftwood
- River rocks
- Live plants
- Fluorescent or UVB light fixture
- Thermometer
- Screened tank lid
Instructions
Cover the bottom of the tank with a 2-inch layer of gravel. This is the bottom layer of the substrate.
Measure and cut the fiberglass screening to fit over top of the gravel layer. Place the fitted screening on top of the gravel.
Place approximately a 3-inch layer of coconut husk fiber soil mix on top of the screening. This is the top layer of the substrate.
Decorate the terrarium with driftwood and river rocks to create a natural environment for your frog or reptile. This creates both a comfortable living space for your pet and an aesthetic piece of decor for your home.
Add live plants to the terrarium. Make sure you add the right type of plants for your terrarium and your pet. Different plants need different watering and lighting requirements as do different types of animals.
Add a light fixture to your terrarium. Depending on your plants and the reptile or frog, you will need either fluorescent or UVB lighting. The type of lighting used will supply both heat and light to your pet and the plants in the terrarium.
Place a thermometer inside the top of the terrarium. Frogs and reptiles have specific heat and humidity requirements to survive and thrive. Regularly check the temperature to ensure the survival of the plants and animals in the terrarium.
Place the screened lid on top of the terrarium. This will ensure that your frog or reptile will not escape the confines of the terrarium. A lid will also help regulate temperature and humidity levels.
