Insects That Crawl

Crawling insects range in various different sizes and colors. Most people may think of ants or ticks. However, a variety of crawling insect do exists.
  1. Ants

    • Ants are everywhere. These crawling insects typically range from 1/3 to 1/2 inch long and are either red or black. This type of insect lives in a colony of ants including queen, male, workers and female. In addition, ants construct their home in outdoor mounds, plant, trees and wood structures.

    Ticks

    • The most common types of ticks include the blacklegged tick, American dog tick and the brown dog tick. These crawling insects typically live outdoor in the woods, shrubs and tall grasses. However, people may find the brown dog tick inside a home. Ticks can enter a house via a person or pet who brought it from outside in an area outdoors that has ticks. These creature have six legs and crawl on their hosts.

    Stink Bug

    • A stink bug is a pesky crawling insect that has defensive scent glands that smell. These bugs are found through the United States. Additionally, these crawling insect usually live outside. However, stink bugs head indoors during cold weather or cold nights through open door or cracks. Additionally, these bugs can hop on people, pets or anything that people bring from outdoors to get inside a house. Stink bugs can crawl on things and cause massive damage to peaches, citrus fruits or vegetation.

    Roaches

    • Roaches are another type of crawling insects. The United States has 550 species of roaches. Female roaches can lay approximately 40 eggs at the same time. These eggs can hatch between two to seven weeks. Additionally, the insects range from 1/2 to 2 inches in length. Cockroaches may appear tan, reddish brown or black.
