How to Create a Pet Portfolio

A good pet owner, who properly looks after her animals and makes sure that they receive the appropriate veterinary care, will soon realize that her pets come with a series of documents. Creating a pet portfolio will help you maintain your pet's files and documents by keeping them stored together in one place. This will make the process of finding your pet's information much easier when you need it, such as traveling or taking your pet to a veterinarian. A pet portfolio will also help you keep your pet's documents and upcoming appointments well organized.

Organize your pet's documents. Separate them into different categories. Place all of your pet's identifying information together in one category. Information, such as the phone numbers to any emergency contacts for your pet, should be placed together as well. Have one category for all documents involving your pet's medical history. Also, have a space for any upcoming veterinary appointments for your pet. Any other documents that you have for your pet should also be appropriately organized.

Place folder dividers inside your file folder. The number of folder dividers that you will use is based on how many categories of documents your pet has. The folder dividers will be dividing each category into a section of its own. Label each folder divider to identify each category. Labels can include appointments, identifying information, emergency contacts, and medical history.
