Instructions
Locate the bats in the building and close off all interior doors and exits, so the bats cannot leave that particular room or rooms.
Open all doors and windows that lead to the outside of the room where the bats are. Leave the doors and windows in this room open for as long as the bats are in the room.
Shoo out the bats without using loud and erratic movements. Within a few moments, they may exit on their own. Jumping and yelling and swinging arms will not help. This, in fact, is dangerous, as it might cause the bats to attack.
Look for any possible bat entrances to the building. There are many places bats can get in from. Around dark, begin looking for anywhere the bats may be entering and exiting. Make sure you are not seen and that you are quiet. If the bats know you are there, they will be frightened and fly away. Some key places to check may be chimneys, attics and small holes in the walls.
Cover any openings you find. Do this with some sort of harder material, such as cardboard, wood or screening material. Do not cover with plastic bags. This can hurt the bats, and it will not keep them out for long.
How to Remove Bats From a Building
From time to time bats can make their way into buildings where they don't belong. They can get in from almost anywhere and be pretty stubborn about leaving. The best thing you can do is to make sure everyone in the building remains calm or leaves the building safely, while you work to get the bats to leave.
