How to Kill Fleas on Concrete

Fleas are pesky little creatures that live on human and animal blood. Their life cycle consists of four stages: eggs, larvae, pupae and adult. Because they exist in four different stages it is very hard to kill them. You need a solution that can kill the eggs as well as the adults and every stage in between. Just killing the adults means you will see more fleas in less than two weeks. The cycle will continue to repeat itself unless you successfully kill the eggs as well. Read on to learn how to kill fleas on concrete.

Instructions

    • 1

Get rid of all the debris and grass around your concrete. Do this first so that the pesticides will be more effective. You will want to mow your grass and trim around the edges of the concrete. Then sweep and mop your concrete surface so it is bare.

    • 2

Purchase your insecticide and growth inhibitor. It is important to get both and you will need the growth inhibitor to make sure the eggs never reach their next stage of development. The best insecticide for concrete is Suspend SC because it sticks to outdoor surfaces the best. If you need a recommendation for a growth inhibitor Martins IGR is a good one. You can purchase these types of products at stores such as Home Depot or you can order them online.

Mix 1.5 oz. of Suspend S, 1 oz. of Martins IGR and 1 gallon of water. Pour this mixture in a pressure sprayer. Pressure sprayers are found on the same aisle as the weed and grass killer. They are made for spraying large surfaces outdoors. They will work great on your concrete and the mixture itself can cover up to 1,500 sq. ft.

Spray your mixture evenly over the concrete. Work in a pattern so you don't miss a spot. Be liberal with the solution and use all of it. The solution doesn't store well so there is no reason not to use it all.
