How to Play With a Pet Sugar Glider

If you are a pet sugar glider owner, you probably already know about the importance of playtime in your pet'slife. Devote at least 2 hours a night to playing with your glider to ensure its mental and physical health.

Instructions

    • 1

Glider-proof your home so that you can safely play with your sugar glider without losing it. Make sure the windows are shut, the doors are closed. Play with your sugar glider at night during its waking hours.

    • 2

Buy toys for your pet sugar glider. Invest in soft tunnels, hammocks, hiding places and other items. Put the toys in your sugar glider's cage. Regularly replace the toys with new ones or change the combinations. Your sugar glider needs to remain stimulated during its playtime.

    • 3

Introduce your sugar glider to a Wodent wheel (see Resources below). Watch as your sugar glider merrily spins it. Teach your sugar glider how to climb a ladder especially made for it.

    • 4

Take a feather and tickle your sugar glider. Your pet will probably leap around to express his joy.

    • 5

Run a piece of rope in front of the sugar glider. View its reaction to the rope. If it gives chase, pick up the rope's speed or slow it down.

    • 6

Rub the space underneath your sugar glider's chin. Allow the sugar glider to lick you. Extend your finger towards your pet. Playfully tease it with it. Your sugar glider should respond by trying to wrestle with your finger.

    • 7

Engage in a game of hide-and-go-seek with your pet sugar glider. Hide from your sugar glider and have it try to find you. Encourage it to glide on top of you when you reemerge from your hiding place.
