How to Attach a Gravity Bin Feeder to a Cage

Gravity bins feeders are designed to hold several days̵7; worth of food in one spot. This allows pet owners to have a convenient place for pet food storage. As the pet eats the food, gravity causes more to fall into the bin. This reduces the amount of work required to care for your pet. Some gravity bin feeders clip onto the cage bars, while more secure units have a mount that attaches to a screw protruding from the back.

Check the dimensions of the cage to make sure the gravity feeder will fit. The feeder usually holds food for five days, and may not fit in small cages. Place the feeder near the cage door for easy access, allowing you to more easily unscrew the gravity feeder and add more feed. Ensure that the pet is far away from the cage door when replacing the feed.

Insert the screw sticking out of the back of the gravity feeder through one of the cage holes. Place the mount on the screw and start rotating the mount, pushing it into the screw so it catches the thread. Screw the mount onto the screw until it is tight. The mount should hold the gravity bin feeder tightly to the cage bars. It can be placed either on the inside or outside the cage and is designed to keep the feeder attached to the cage even when the pet is feisty and can potentially knock the feeder off the cage.

Check the feeder regularly to make sure the pet eats the nutritious feed and not the fatty feed. If the pet eats only the fatty feed, add more nutritious feed to the feeder.
