Things You'll Need
- Insecticide spray treatments, indoors and out
- Natural cleaner
- 3 cloths
- Glass jar
- Liquid soap
- Warm water
- Masking tape
Instructions
Spray the outside perimeter with an insecticide. Point the nozzle along the entry ways and foundation of the house. It is important to stop the silverfish at the entry points.
Pull the freezer out from the wall far enough to reach the back. Place the crack or crevice tip on a can of insecticide behind the freezer. Spray around the bottom of the freezer or refrigerator.
Take everything out of the freezer. Inspect each carton, bag and container. Discard anything that has a hole or is open, even if it is closed tightly with a clip.
Push the freezer back into its original spot. Spray a natural cleaner inside the freezer. Wait one minute. Wipe the cleaner in a circular motion around the entire area. Repeat the process until the freezer surface is completely clean.
Squeeze a drop of liquid soap into a glass jar. Run warm water into the jar. Using a cloth, clean the jar's inside. Rinse the jar thoroughly. Dry the inside and outside.
Tear off a piece of masking tape. Place it in the center of the jar, over the opening, so that it hangs down the sides 1/2 inch. Repeat the process until the entire jar opening is covered.
Place the food and the jar into the freezer. Make sure you can easily see the jar. Any silverfish able to make it past the insecticides and into your freezer will be caught in the jar. Silverfish will quickly eat through the tape and will not be able to get out.
