Baby kookaburras are called chicks. They hatch from their eggs fully covered with fluffy white, gray or brown-gray down. Their eyes open after about a week, and they start to develop feathers at around 2 weeks of age. After 5-6 weeks, the chicks' feathers are fully developed, and they start to resemble adult kookaburras.
